Dear Friends,
There is a familiar mantra this time of year that says, “School’s out for summer!”
Not in Uganda! Regarding the students though, I have something to share with you that has blessed us all so much. Remember when we first started our UCSS school? On the ground, under a lean-to? Barely 100 students and only 25 student sponsors? Children who had never been able to get an education because there were no schools they could walk to… children who had no clean water, hardly any food, and no medical care? Remember these children?
Well, some of those first primary students are now secondary students who are not only getting an education but are also leading others in worship and in service! As I look at these young faces, smiling because of the hope offered by Jesus Christ – and knowing that only 10 years ago they knew of no such hope – I praise God from whom all blessings flow!
The Transformation Continues…
Just as praiseworthy is news about our most recent church plant. No, it’s not a building, and it’s barely a temporary lean-to structure, but here on the grassy floor with a few benches gathered around, 28 people gave their hearts to Jesus. Big change happens where we plant a church! Pastors go door to door, village to village, find the needs, and invite them to the new construction, thus the need for ongoing discipleship and training.
The Work Continues…
Summer months are our hardest months financially, so I wanted you to know that we need you now more than ever. Here are a few ways to help if the Lord leads you to do so:
- Become a UCSS Lifer with your monthly gift of any amount. This is the biggest way to help during the summer and beyond.
- Become a Student Sponsor with your monthly gift of $25 per student. Receive a personal student profile and become as involved with your student or just support the program.
- Play in or donate to our Annual Golf for Uganda Scramble. See details below.
- Schedule a meeting at your church, small group, or home and have a UCSS Ambassador come and share the UCSS story. This is a great way to connect with others who might want to be involved with a life-changing mission. 270.681.7893
- Shop our online store for UCSS crafts and gifts.
- Buy or give to a solar panel for our medical facilities. We still need two more.
- Give a one-time donation.
Friends, we never want anyone to give out of compulsion; God moves on our hearts at different times and in different ways. I’m just so glad to know that we have praying partners who share this vision to transform Uganda one village at a time.
Today, as you read through this newsletter, this may be the first time you’ve considered partnering with us. Praise God! Or, maybe you’ve been our partner from the beginning. Praise God! I thank God for all of you, and may His wisdom and grace guide us through these summer months.
