Let’s make this a student sponsorship summer!
While this famous quote may be true for some, UCSS is defying these odds and doing both while in the midst of a pandemic: Our students’ lives are being changed thanks to you, and they are changing their communities by the grace of God. Bulike & Buluya, Uganda, are becoming the change we want to see in the world.
It has been our goal this year to have 220 student sponsors by the end 2020.
We are 77 sponsors away from our target. As you listen to Head Teacher Samuel Ndahye explain the situation, consider helping by becoming a sponsor. Your $25 per month benefits, not only the student you sponsor, but the whole school and community. To know someone is standing with them gives them hope when things around them look hopeless.
In the midst of this COVID crisis, however, many of our young girls are afraid they will never get to come back to school, believing the lie that they will have to go back to the old way of marrying to survive. We are working to reach and encourage as many students as we can, letting them know that UCSS is still here for them – that we are not giving up on them – that they still have a future in God! They are doing all they can with the materials they have to prepare and be ready.
Finally, be praying as our schools reopen for graduate testing only (P7 & S4) in August. Pray they will remember all they’ve been studying while under these stressful circumstances. They’ve worked so hard and their hopes are high. If you’ve been thinking about how to help us during this difficult season, I ask you to prayerfully consider sponsoring one of our nearly 800 students.
