Dear Ronald,
Good Resurrection Day to you! The hymn, Victory in Jesus, is on my heart as I write this and turn my thoughts toward Easter. Though this song is not regularly associated with this day, I’m reminded that there would be no victory for us if not for His death on the cross. There would be no redemption, no healing, nor promise of heaven if He had not died and rose again on the third day.
This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4b
This foundational truth is what pushes us forward here in Uganda because there are still so many who have not heard this good news. There are still so many trapped by tradition, sick in their bodies and in their spirits, their minds darkened and held captive by the enemy. But, just as hell trembled when the tomb was found empty, we know that it also trembles when UCSS enters a village.
With your help we are spreading the good news that there is Victory in Jesus! Thank you for helping us proclaim liberty to the captives, for helping us bring good tidings to the meek, and the opening of prison doors to those who are bound! They, the families here in rural, Eastern Uganda, would not know except that you are sending us to them. Thank you for helping us train up men and women who are now able to boldly declare that there is a better way through Jesus Christ.
So, as this Holy Week and Resurrection Day comes to a close, I want you to know that we thank God every day for you, your prayers, and your support. Because of you, life is made possible for so many, and by the grace of God we are not stopping in Bulike and Buluya. We are taking the good news of this Victory in Jesus to all those to whom God leads us.
In closing, I invite you to come and grow with us as we pray “God enlarge our territory…” as we walk into the next decade of transformation (1 Chron. 4:10). What a mighty God we serve, and what great friends the Lord has given to me and UCSS. This is the victory that overcomes – even our faith. May you know Him better and walk more closely to Him every day.
