I pray and hope that this post finds you and your loved ones well. We are doing fine here in Uganda and so grateful to God for his blessings and also for the blessings of you, our board who have played a great role in the transformation of the people of Uganda.Thank you so much for loving us and for caring for us.
During the month of July 2016, UCSS was honored with a visit from the Nation’s Special Presidential Adviser on wealth creation and Minister of Tourism of Busoga Kingdom Hon, Hellen Namutamba.
She visited the schools, women vocational training groups, tailoring classes, clinic and met with UCSS staff. During her visit, she held discussions with staff and students, encouraging them and sharing her extensive experience in the development sector.
She expressed her deep appreciation for the intensive approach by UCSS, and said she had toured several projects but had not yet encountered an approach that affected an entire community and not just a single individual and a few workers.
She later held an extensive meeting with the farmer groups. She listened exhaustively to the farmer groups, encouraging every member present to say something. She gave them tips to help them grow and informed them about government initiatives on wealth creation. One of these initiatives is giving out of tree seedlings and UCSS was asked to write a letter to the government for this which was done and we await their response.
The highlights of her remarks included the needed for more women participation, improved hygiene and proper post-harvest care of produce. She said she would be visiting often with other leaders to show them what can be done.
She highly commended UCSS leadership for proper stewardship of resources and promised to do everything possible to support the institution’s efforts and offered to lobby for the Bulike primary school takeover.
Thanks again for your continued support and guidance. Please know that you, your loved ones and your great nation are in our prayers.
