Education

When you invest in our Education Department, you aren’t just changing lives – you’re changing the future. Today, children are receiving their human right to education. Tomorrow, their hands will shape whole communities. Our students in Uganda dream of becoming doctors, lawyers, farmers, and teachers. These are life-changing professions that are only made possible through a quality education system.

Education makes an impact on both national and personal levels.
Since illiteracy is inextricably linked to poverty, a lower literacy rate leads to higher poverty. Currently, the Uganda literacy rate is 76% and the poverty rate is 41%. We strive to make a national impact by increasing literacy, and a personal impact by preparing our students for greater opportunities.
Our schools in Uganda impact lives throughout generations and across the nation. Children are gaining the tools they need to improve their lives and communities. Young men and women are already transforming villages in pivotal areas of need. In fact, many of our staff across our departments came out of our investment in education.
As schools invest in their students today, they lay the foundations for a brighter tomorrow. The future of Uganda lies in the hands of our children.

Geoffrey’s Education Story

“As a result of my parents’ humble background, I was not able to continue my education beyond Primary 7. I was stuck at home until opportunity came through UCSS and I was given sponsorship. I was very happy to join the Senior 1 class. I’ve been equipped with spiritual, academic, economic, and social wisdom." -Geoffrey Waiswa

When you sponsor a student, you will build a relationship and become someone who walks beside them as they grow and learn to become all they were created to be, a chance they would not have without a sponsor. Just $25 a month provides students like Geoffrey with a holistic education that includes meals during school, access to medical care, clean water and quality teaching.

About Our Schools

In 2011, our schools began under the shade of a tree. Today, we have nearly 2000 students across our Primary, Secondary, and Vocational schools. How did we get here? By God’s grace, the community’s investment, and our donors’ faithful support.

As we strive towards self-sustainability, our schools in Uganda have developed programs for staff and students to help fund school operations. These include raising goats and cows, planting banana trees, and making bricks. All of these endeavors support our teacher salaries, classroom supplies, and after school programs. What isn’t covered by the communities are met monthly by our Student Sponsors.

Our donor base invests in our bigger educational projects such as building maintenance and the construction of our boarding quarters. These are essential to keep our schools safe and accessible to as many children as possible. UCSS, and everyone involved, is improving the quality of education in Uganda.
