“…In heaven their angel is always beholding the face of their Father…” Matthew 18:10
Dear Friends,
Just as the Father makes a special point to look out for His children, as a UCSS Student Sponsor, you are part of His plan to care for His children in Uganda. Even though you may have received other UCSS correspondence, I wanted to write to you personally because you have a special place in my heart and the heart of the child you sponsor.
Our children are our future, and the children of Bulike and Buluya would have no future if it were not for you. This is not hyperbole. This is truth. Your sponsorship provides an holistic education for our youth: Physically they are able to access clean water, medical care, and food; mentally they are educated in academics and vocational training, but greater still, spiritually, they are taught the word of God – all because of you.
Therefore, I could not let this Christmas Season pass without thanking you for one of the greatest gifts ever given to UCSS – your choice to become a Student Sponsor. I pray that you feel the sincerity in these words and the thankfulness of the grateful hearts you are touching with your gifts. I get to see their faces and hear the joy in their voices when they talk about their sponsor. You are changing their life.
Please read on for an update from Rachel Briner, our Sponsorship Coordinator who works closely with our Education Department in Uganda. I hope you also enjoy the slideshow which provides a small glimpse of the children and teachers as they go about learning all that God has for them.
Thank you and Merry Christmas,
Ronald…
DECEMBER EDUCATION UPDATE
From Student Sponsorship Coordinator, Rachel Briner
Thank you for your prayers during this lockdown. We had asked you to pray that students would continue learning and that schools would reopen, and God has heard and answered both of these prayers! Where would UCSS be without the faithful support of our sponsors? We cannot thank you enough for the ways you bless your students and this ministry.
Here are some highlights from our Education Department that you have made possible:
Children unable to get to school have excitedly gathered around their teachers to learn in their neighborhoods. Our teachers continue to go out, and all students continue to learn.
Not only are they learning general academics, they are also being taught life skills such as pot making, and 15 students at the secondary school have been taught soap making.
Students in tailoring school are making clothes with different designs and color prints. The whole family benefits and the community loves them!
Sixteen post-secondary (tertiary) learners started school this November learning life skills including carpentry, plumbing, pre-school teaching, and nursing aides!
After two (2) years of school lockdown, the government is allowing schools to reopen in January, and we are getting ready to have the students back in school, thus…
General repairs around campus are being done.
Schools have been painted.
Flowers and trees have been planted.
Lawns have been manicured and look fresh and green.
We can’t wait until the students get back to the classroom – and neither can they!!! Thank you for helping make their “back to school” the best ever!
