Dear Friends,
When the angel came to Mary and told her that she would be having a baby and that this baby would save the world from sin, she asked how that could be. It was an impossible thing!
As I prayed about what to share with you this week, this familiar scene came to mind, especially the angel’s response: “…with God nothing would be impossible” (Luke 1:37).
Like Mary, we find ourselves facing seemingly impossible things: not enough room for students, not enough doctors and nurses, not enough funds for churches. Each of our departments is overwhelmed with those seeking help, those looking for hope and a way forward. Neighboring families are seeing the real transformation in the lives of those in Bulike and Buluya, and the good news of Jesus is compelling them to come. But, we consider this a good problem NOT an impossible one.
I’m reminded of Zerubbabel to whom the Lord said, “Not by power, nor by might, but by the Spirit of the Lord… These mountains will become level and the people will shout God’s praise” (Zech 4:6-7). I am already praising God because our $50,000 matching gift has been increased to $150,000. This, my friend, is God’s way of telling us that nothing is impossible with Him.
Therefore, by December 31st, I am asking you to help us “level this mountain” with your end-of-year gift that will be matched, dollar for dollar, doubling the impact it will have on the lives of the people here in Bulike, Buluya, Nakalama, and surrounding villages.
