If Making a Difference was Easy Would you do it?
Christmas Greetings! Did you watch the video? I put it at the top so you can hear straight away the struggle the youth in Uganda face every day. Mulei Hope Mary was advised by family and friends to go ahead and get married as a preteen: the schools are closed (this was during lockdown)- just go back to the way it’s always been. Her young heart was torn, and she was losing hope fast! Thank God that UCSS partners were there.
Every day the youth here in Eastern Uganda are faced with this, and it doesn’t have to be a pandemic to isolate and discourage them. It can be sickness in the family that keeps her home from school for a month, and desperation sets in quickly because there is no support: young girls face pressure to marry; young boys are exposed to alcohol, hopelessness, and a cycle of degradation.
While Bulike and Buluya are changing, and your continued prayers and support enables teachers to travel to students like Hope Mary, just around the corner our neighbors are still dealing with traditions and mindsets that lock them in this cycle of hopelessness. It doesn’t have to stay this way.
When you partner with UCSS, things change, and things are in place for change to come to our neighboring communities: Change that includes more families finding out the real meaning of Christmas, the real reason Jesus came: to bring good news to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners – to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord (Isaiah 61:1-2)!
May this be that year! Here, at the end of 2022, every dollar that you donate to bringing hope to Uganda one village a time, is doubled up to $20,000! Your giving to reach the children is doubled. Your giving to reach more villages with fresh water is doubled. Your partnership to train community members to become well-techs, farmers, nurses, is doubled. This month, hope is doubled!
