It is not enough to have lived; we should be determined to live for something.
~William Churchill
The Apostle Paul said it like this: “I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air” (1 Cor. 9:26).
As I prayed about what to share with you today, I thought about the scripture above and realized Paul lived his life with the end in mind: the goal of receiving the heavenly prize which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us (Phil. 3:14).
I wonder how many of us are asking, what will be the end of this strangely difficult time we are going through?
Why are things happening as they are? Friend, if we live this life thinking only of the years we have to spend on this earth, forgetting that this life is but a vapor in God’s eternal plan, then we may find ourselves worried, frustrated, or “running aimlessly”.
This is easier to do now more than ever as nothing seems certain anywhere in the world, but I want to encourage you of one thing that is for sure. Today, we do not have to let our hearts be troubled. This world is not the end God wants us to have in mind. He has prepared a place for all who believe, and this should be the “something” we are living for. This is our why! Our goal.
So, whatever we do and whatever situation we find ourselves in, let’s do it all unto the Lord and with all our heart, knowing that we too have a prize waiting for us: a crown of life that no one or no circumstance can take away if we persevere. Be of good cheer, my friend, even if the place you are in right now is hard. He has overcome the world, and if we are in Him, then we are over-comers too.
Let’s remember each other in our prayers as we navigate these waters through which the Lord has seen fit to take us. Thank you for helping UCSS bring this good news to the families in Bulike and Buluya. We can not do this without you.
