Do You Know What We’re Thankful For?

Even in the midst of a rough year, we have a whole list to share with you!

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

Psalm 9:1

Knowing this is the week of Thanksgiving in America, I couldn’t wait to write this and give thanks to you and for you, for without you the families here in Bulike and Buluya could not have come out of the darkness that has oppressed them for generations. With all that is happening in the world and with all the obstacles everyone is facing, I wanted to share with you what your giving and prayers for UCSS has done and why I am saying thank you, today, my dear friend.

I’m Thankful For:

Seeing parents disciple their families to grow in the love of Jesus Christ. With the closure of churches because of COVID 19, our pastors have concentrated on learning the Bible with their neighbors, and this has led to Christian growth.

Teachers who, while visiting the students’ homes to distribute reading materials, have encouraged parents to take a leading role in their children’s lives, resulting in greater respect for education and growth all around.

Nearly 200 student sponsors giving hope to children’s futures and providing their basic daily needs. Even in this pandemic, we are changing a generation for Christ!

Seeing the youth in the community learn how to drill wells which has resulted in us being able to drill over 12 water wells, and at the same time, impart life sustaining skills for our youth.

Dormitories for our female students who live miles from school making one less obstacle to dropping out for fear of the dangerous journey, and giving one more reason to continue their education and face their future with hope. living quarters for our teachers and medical workers so we can keep the best teachers and nurses for the community. With a place to stay, our teachers and medical staff will not only be safer, they will be more rested, more alert, and more available for those in need.

A compressor and operational truck to help us reach more drilling areas and use the drilling equipment as a resource mobilization tool. We can also use the multi-purpose truck in construction as well as harvesting.

Partnerships which have brought a production well to the farm, solar light at both schools, and equipment such as computers, solar torches, mattresses, and desks increasing the functionality throughout our campuses.

Motorbikes and bicycles for teachers, pastors, and staff to reach our students and families in remote areas. Students and families on the verge of giving up because of this pandemic, are realizing God and their UCSS family has not abandoned them!

Construction of three family housing units giving hope to families who had no place to turn and no one to help them. Life has been forever changed for these precious people who thought there was no way out.

Sewing machines for our tailoring program so women can take care of and provide income for their families. Women’s empowerment is changing life for families in Uganda.

Soap during this pandemic keeping families safe and healthy! This expensive necessity has saved precious lives in these remote areas!

You are helping transform the villages of Bulike and Buluya.

I tell everyone here, “Look what the Lord has done!” You are helping transform the villages of Bulike and Buluya. What is even greater is to see the impact we are having on nearby villages who see what is taking place and hear about the one true God and his son, Jesus Christ…and these people who call themselves Christian. We tell anyone who will listen of all the wonderful deeds of the Lord our God! Your prayers and support make it all possible.

So, thank you! As you gather with your family this week, even if it is virtually or a much smaller gathering for a season, know that you are making life here in Uganda possible, and it is abounding unto much Thanksgiving because of the grace working in you. As families go to sleep now with hope for their tomorrow, know that you are making the difference. Would you give thanks with me today for all that God is doing through our UCSS family?

Thankfully yours,

Ronald
